Behind the Scenes
My name is Matthew Holt and I am the owner/ operator at Stillwater Earthworks. Caring for the Earth has been a core value of mine since childhood. I've evolved with a passion for nature throughout my education and into my professional career. As a young adult, I began working on and eventually managing organic farms. Within the organic farming community is where I became aware of Permaculture. I studied under Scott Pittman and Durga Sat Yoga at the Permaculture Institute in Costa Rica in 2013. I then took my second Permaculture Design Course with Andrew Millison and Tao Orion at the Oregon State University in 2014. As I dove deeper into the permaculture community and participated in the installation of several projects in Northern California, I identified a necessity for the conscious construction of the designs. The following years I spent building a contractors skill-set working in civil construction, residential plumbing, and ecological landscaping. Stillwater Earthworks is the alchemy of my permaculture education, my farming/ construction background, and my passion for working consciously with the Earth.

I currently tend a homestead outside of Reading, PA with my partner, Shannon, and our two children. Our plant path has taken us all around the world, and has brought us back to our hometown. We intend to always care for the land around us and plant it with perennial food and medicine sources for generations to come.
I am available for installations of all sizes, across the entire United States, and possibly worldwide.
